We had quite an 'historic' debate in House of Lords on 30 March on service provision for GCA and PMR – view details in the Hansard.
Several peers (Lords Wills, Black and Alderdice, and Baronesses
Bakewell, Brinton and Thornton) spoke in favour of better service
provision to prevent blindness, more accurate diagnosis, less steroid
effects and more research. The Health Minister has agreed to meet us in
the next two to three weeks for further discussions. NICE guidance on
PMR and GCA should be in the offing. We have suggested a campaign
analogous to the ACT-FAST campaign for stroke. Quite exciting if
something concrete comes from all this. I shall keep you informed.
